Introduction
Henry V is a play by William Shakespeare.  It is one of his History plays.  Henry V is a dramatic adaptation of a portion of the life of King Henry V of England.  Henry V was born in 1387 and died in 1422.  He became king in 1413.                         

William Shakespeare was born early in the Elizabethan era, in 1564 and died in the Jacobean era, in 1616.  The Elizabethan and Jacobean periods both occurred within the English Renaissance. 

Shakespeare is recognized as one of the most significant authors of the British literary canon.  In fact, many would argue that he is the most significant author of the British literary canon.  His work is renowned for its universal themes and timeless relevance.
